Meet our Makers

Mark Boxall

Principal Designer

What do you make?
Custom boxes, lights, small goods and furniture

What inspires you?
I find great  inspiration in nature, particularly at my property on the south coast of NSW. I love a wholistic approach, in that I grow my own trees,  and process them on my property. I’m able to mill, dry and process timber so my piece are handled by me at every stage of their life, from seed to finished item.

What is your design philosophy?
I strive for Clean, functional and beautifully made pieces. I love that balance.

Being in the wood working community allows me to develop great relationships with other makers, resulting in some fantastic collaborations and conversations which I find really adds to the process.

Melissa Allen

Principal Designer

What do you make?
Marquetry pieces, lighting, custom small goods

What inspires you?
All manner of things, my eye absorbs the beauty in the everyday. Being design oriented I tend to change my style to suit each clients project.

I personally love quiet organic  and tactile pieces, though I find  bold and geometric works exciting also.

What is your design philosophy?
I endeavour to take each piece and look at what I as a maker can add to it, to help it reach its design potential. Sometimes this is by simply adding colour or texture, other times by paring back and bring the personality out. I am rarely firm in my ideas, but try to allow the work to shift where it needs to between the client, the work and myself.
